Recounts my meditative journey with my guru, Qasim Ali Shah, towards unconventionally simple wisdom about life’s most complex questions. During these seventeen evening rides, I gained a spiritual perspective on my own self, on my own life. Confusions and fears were sickening and darkening my conscience, and then came his saintly words, and I was healed.
Every week I would meet him and ask him questions about the subjects that disturbed me—questions that, I am sure, disturb you too—and he would answer them simply and lucidly, yet in conscience-enhancing ways. What is love? How to become a Sufi? What is spirituality? What is success? Why serve humanity? How to gain self-contentment? Who to become friends with?—these were some of the topics I sought his wisdom about, and his answers to these questions, in his own words, are “enclosed in this little book”. – A.Z.
